			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: left;"><img class="aligncenter" title="Word" src="http://www.aqsa.org.uk/Portals/0/Misc/Microsoft%20Word.png" alt="" width="216" height="216" />If you don&#8217;t remember, Microsoft&#8217;s appeal was denied in the case against them filed by i4i, and now Microsoft has to stop selling Microsoft Office Word on January 11. The patent that was violated (manipulating a document&#8217;s content and architecture separately) did not seem to be used in OpenOffice, and previous or current Microsoft Word copies, owners of which can breathe easy. <p style="text-align: left;">Microsoft <em>does </em>have a workaround &#8211; a version of Office 2007 and Word 2007 that doesn&#8217;t violate the patent. According to Microsoft, Word 2010 doesn&#8217;t have technology that violates the patent. To top all of it off, their planning an appeal to the Supreme Court if all else fails.</p>
