Following a previous, albeit temporary, $50 price cut earlier this month because of questionable sales, the Tablet S now permanently finds itself among other middle range price tablets like the Toshiba Thrive and Asus Transformer. The 16GB now stands at $399 and the 32GB at $499, the previous introductory point for the tablet.

While a TouchPad-esque firesale can’t be expected any time soon (or ever, for that matter), Sony’s new pricing strategy represents a move in the right direction towards affordability.

The PlayStation Move gets a new gun shell that’s sitting quietly in Sony’s E3 booth. The shooting attachment, which presumably will be used for first and third person shooters, is also one of the first accessories to use the Move’s expansion port at the bottom of the device.

Look’s as if this is Sony’s answer to the Zapper, no?

Valve’s co-founder and managing director, Gabe Newell, just went on stage at Sony’s E3 keynote a few moments ago and announced that both Steam and Portal 2 are headed to the PS3 the same time as when the Xbox 360, Mac, and PC owners get their copy. While Portal 2 has Steamworks enabled and supports community features (like chat), it will not be cross platform capable.

With all this news, it’s interesting that Newell said a while back that game consoles are “a waste of everyone’s time” and “a disaster on many levels … I’d say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a do over. Just say, ‘This was a horrible disaster and we’re sorry and we’re going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it’.”

Portal 2 is slated for release sometime in 2011.

LAS VEGAS (CES Booth #14200), Jan. 6, 2010 – Sony today introduced its new Blu-ray Disc™ line featuring Blu-ray 3D™ playback, Wi-Fi® Internet connectivity, and instant streaming of online video content from the BRAVIA® Internet Video platform. The full HD 1080p line featuring Sony’s new Monolithic Design Concept includes three stand alone models (BDP-S770, BDP-S570 and BDP-S370) and three integrated home theater systems (BDV-HZ970W, BDV-E770W, and BDV-E570), as well as a 5.1 channel matching home audio system (HT-SS370).
When connected to a broadband Internet network, the models instantly stream movies, videos, music and more from Netflix, Amazon Video On Demand, YouTube™, Slacker® Internet Radio, Pandora®, NPR, Sony Pictures, Sony Music, and over 25 total providers through the Sony BRAVIA Internet Video platform.
