Three Windows Phone 7 prototypes get stacked side by side

8:44 pm in MIX, Windows Phone 7 Series by Sina Hamedian

Engadget has come across all the different prototypes currently existing for Windows Phone 7, side by side. The one to the left is the Samsung handset we just finished covering, in the middle was the poster child of Windows Phone 7 at MWC 2010, and to the right is the slider that was first introduced at the Engadget Show a while back. There’s no detailed specs on the phones other than what Microsoft laid down as the requirment for running Windows Phone 7 for OEMs. Hopefully that will change soon.

LG’s Windows Phone 7 prototype unveiled at Engadget Show

4:40 pm in Breaking, Cell Phones, Video, Windows by Sina Hamedian

At The Engadget Show, Aaron Woodman, director of consumer experiences for Microsoft’s mobile division, shocked the world by pulling out a LG prototype phone running Windows Phone 7 Series. You can view all the pictures of the phone here.

There’s not much for specs, but it is a trifle bit thicker than an iPhone or Nexus One, has six hardware buttons, a slide out QWERTY keyboard, and a 5MP camera. He wouldn’t confirm it had any Mac support, but he didn’t toss it to the curb. At least now we have an idea for the future of Windows Mobile hardware.

Update: There’s also a short snippet of it being on the Engadget Show. See below.

Next generation iPhone leaks out

5:01 pm in Apple, Cell Phones by Sina Hamedian

Apple Insider has recently learned that among those leaked pictures of the iPad at Engadget (the ones we decided not to repost), there was also a fourth generation iPhone prototype sitting there, but the news of the iPad completely engulfed any sign that it was a prototype. Looking closer, it appears it is a prototype since the bezel that surrounds the phone is replaced by some kind of black plastic. And if history has anything to show, it will announced at WWDC 2010.
