The first pictures have emerged about the Celsius X VI II mechanical cell phone, the Papillon. The phone, which will be announced at the Baselworld watch show in Switzerland, will cost an arm and a leg ($300,000) and have the most intricate micro-mechanics of any gadget in modern history. In a a slightly old article in PCMag, co-founder Alejandro Ricart said, “We want to take the useful functions of the cell phone and try to re-think them, and re-create them in a mechanical way.”
For those that are rich enough to pay for it, they’ll notice that the body is mostly transparent, so the owner can see the mechanical guts of the phone they paid so much for. More will be unveiled next week, but until then the phone is still shrouded is mystery, even with pictures.
