As if not to add insult to injury for Sprint buyers of the Pixi, Sprint slapped the price of the WiFi-less phone down to a mere $49 after a $100 mail in rebate and a two year contract. The Pixi originally appeared for $100 with a two year contract months after the Pre debuted. The Pre, not the Pixi, also supports 3D gaming and Flash now, making a huge gap between the phones even bigger (and the choice for the consumers even more obvious).

Palm let the cat out of the bag today at CES – the Pre Plus for Verizon.

The Pre Plus will have an improved 16GB of memory, an induction cover (which was an accessory with the Sprint version), a missing navigation button, and a Verizon logo. The Pre Plus, along with the Pixi Plus, is dropping in a Verizon store near you on January 25. No real changes to the device expect for double memory, but at least it’s for Verizon, no?

Palm showed off their Pixi Plus as expected here in CES.

Jon Rubinstein announced, live on stage, the Pixi Plus smartphone, equipped with WiFi, headed for Verizon Wireless. The phone will launch in January 25, just several days away. The specs of the phone including a 2.63 inch capacitve touch screen, 8GB of internal storage, a 2MP camera with LED flash.

Everyone knows about the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus – Verizon’s version of the two Palm phones, which are set to be unveiled at CES tomorrow, and specs were leaked today. Most specs are the same as the Sprint counterparts, but the Pre has 16GB storage and the Pixi has WiFi. I don’t think a day’s heads up is going to do any good, though.

Up until now, you’d be dreaming if you though that 3D gaming on WebOS is a reality. WebOS Internals was able to port the classic over to the WebOS platform and play it on the Pre successfully. Sure, DOOM has already been ported, but as for 3D gaming, this a groundbreaking milestone. Hit the jump for video of the game.
