Fusion Garage only sold 64 JooJoos

7:24 pm in Tablet by Sina Hamedian

After the whole firestorm that erupted after Fusion Garage kicked TechCrunch out of their tablet deal, they reported that they only sold 90 tablets, and they were “pleased” with that number. However, after sending emails to all their customers with a Cc: (stupid, we know), it’s confirmed that they only sold 64 tablets. Not only did they invade their customer’s privacy, but they dramatically undersold their number of tablets. It’s amazing that they’re still trying hard to please their small group of customers. The email, which was for feedback on the device, read:

Dear Sir and Madam,
Thank you for supporting JooJoo.

We hope to get your feedback about the JooJoo Tablet. Please revert back to us want you think of our product. Please drop us a line on how your JooJoo is working.

Thank you.

JooJooSupportTeam

Now we all have that feeling inside that the JooJoo is going to become vaporware, don’t we?

Dead iPad battery? It’ll cost $100

12:51 pm in Apple, Tablet by Sina Hamedian

Apple recently posted its service policy for iPad batteries, and for those experiencing battery problems, it’s not going to be enlightening. The opening line in itself is even depressing:

“If your iPad requires service due to the battery’s diminished ability to hold an electrical charge, Apple will replace your iPad for a service fee.”

Current policy for the iPhone states that Apple will service, not replace, your iPhone just because of the battery. However if you have an iPad with a defective battery, Apple won’t care to fix it for you; they’ll send you a new one refurbished model for a grand total of $105.95 (with shipping included) and none of your data intact.

You will receive a replacement iPad that will not contain any of your personal data. Before you submit your iPad for service, it is important to sync your iPad with iTunes to back up your contacts, calendars, email account settings, bookmarks, apps, etc. Apple is not responsible for the loss of information when servicing your iPad.

Wonderful, isn’t it? Full text after the jump. Read the rest of this entry →

iPad model A1337 breaks loose from the FCC

8:29 pm in Apple, Breaking, Tablet by Sina Hamedian

A pair of iPads passed the FCC just hours ago, right on time for Apple’s pre-orders. As you may remember from previous times, Apple has a thing for perfectly timing its FCC filings, such as with the iPhone back in 2007. There’s nothing new this time around, as manuals and both internal/external pictures have been held back. What’s more is that there is only two filings, one of which has UMTS 850 / 1900 and GSM 850 / 1900, which means that Apple has condensed both models and all sizes into just two filings, one for the WiFi only model and one for the 3G model.

It’s also worth noting that it probably will come right on schedule.

Official Chrome OS tablet concept revealed

11:24 pm in Chrome OS, Google, Software, Tablet by Sina Hamedian

If the Chrome OS tablet had not been canceled, we might have been expecting this tablet, which is an official concept by Google. It seems innovative, and even though is just a web browser, it could jab a hole in iPad’s momentum from rumors after rumors before it’s launch.

The pictures have been posted on the official Chromium site, and even though Chromium is not part of Google, they were designed by Chrome’s UI designer. Also worthwhile to know: there will be more than one Chrome tablet since Chromium OS is open source. Video and gallery below. Read the rest of this entry →

Apple iPad officially announced

4:44 pm in Apple, Breaking, Displays, Tablet by Sina Hamedian

The most anticipated product for seven years – it’s here. More pictures, speculation and others from us below.

At first glance, the iPad (before you had a chance to see anything about it), you think “Holy cow, this will revolutionize everything” or “This is sexy!” Both might be true, but at it’s heart, it is just a 10″ iPod touch give or take 3G support. Internet on the tablet is remarkable, the iPod app is a significant improvement, you can have a wallpaper as your home screen background, and watch HD YouTube videos. But is that it? No. It also features Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11n out of the box support, a ebook reader, iPhone app compatibility, LED screen, Google Street View, 1Ghz Apple A4 processor, among others. What missing really take away from the device, however. No camera, multi-tasking, flash, or other stuff really take away from it.

But why should I go on any farther?

The pricing starts at $499 for a WiFi only 16GB version and goes to $829 for a unlocked 3G + WiFi capable 64GB version of the tablet, meaning you can pop in your SIM and start surfing the internets. In addition, AT&T will offer a no contract $20 per month internet service for the iPad.

Is this the Apple Tablet? (Update: No)

8:57 pm in Apple, Rumor, Tablet by Sina Hamedian

I have no clue if this is the real deal, but it meets every rumor of the Apple Tablet, and it does look like an iPhone on steroids. This is probably not the tablet you’ll see in 14 hour’s time – but it does intensify your need for it, doesn’t it?

I so do hope these are the real thing. I guessed somewhat right for the Nexus One.

Update: As much as I wished, no. But it was close.
