Super Bowl XLIV: Loads of beer, low on gadgets

Submitted by Sina Hamedian on Sunday, 7 February 2010Comments

Super Bowl XLIV just came to an end with an impressive victory for the Saints against the Colts – something which I didn’t want. Regardless of the game itself, the much anticipated advertisements of the Super Bowl didn’t deliver this year. The tech advertisements were few, being only for the Motorola DEVOUR, GoDaddy, Intel, Google, and Vizio. Most of the other advertises were for beer, chips, or some other random stuff (shoes?).

Click the jump to see all the tech ads aired during Super Bowl XLIV.

First up in line was the Motorola Devour commercial with Megan Fox. Although I fully support Android, and generally all the phones sporting it, this wasn’t just a fail, (I hate Megan Fox and the looks of the DEVOUR) it was an epic fail, at least for me. Also shocking, it wasn’t on AdBlitz.

Then came Beyonce playing for Vizio’s internet “widget” enabled TVs, pushing HDTVs far, but until I see one of them bragging OLED and 3D, I won’t make a buy since 3DTVs are soon poised to take over the market. Warning: WTF moment for the first few seconds.

Followed on by Intel’s Jeffery the lunch room robot and Core series ads. One thing does spring to mind: War of the Worlds. One thing doesn’t: MacBook Pros.

Then…Parisian Love by Google, which John Battelle correctly guessed yesterday and we correctly reported on. You could’ve guessed something more “American” in Search Stories, like Out of Office or Mad to Live, just posted yesterday. But still, it’s nice to see.

Maybe we’ll see an Apple ad or two next year.
