The iPad, as it’s known is Apple’s entry into the touch screen tablet market that has long been dead or almost dead. There also have been a lot of rumors about the tablet, and with all the information coming in various sources, we are getting a better idea of what the device actually is. What still have no idea about: iProd.
So let’s get a few thing laid out, about the general information of the device, and launch date.
General Info and Launch:
- The device is speculated to be announced January 19 and be launched in June, like the iPhone first did back in 2007.
- The device has been called the iPad in a bookstore survey, and probably is the set name.
- The iPad is probably has a multi-touch screen and maybe it will click the BlackBerry Storm.
- Some rumors hold that the device is in 10″, 13″, and 15″ sizes, and charge by Mag Safe.
- Analysts have claimed to see the iPad and were “awed by it”.
- Companies have halted production of some netbooks to see what Apple will cook up.
- It likely won’t have a CD/DVD drive. It might have a built in iSight.
- It will compete with e-readers and netbooks, and DVD players.
- It will either run a modified iPhone OS or a modified OS X.
App Compatibility:
- If it runs iPhone OS, it will probably support current iPhone apps.
- If it runs OS X, it will probably have Bootcamp and OS X apps.
Celluar Network Compatibility:
- It will probably come in three flavors: AT&T 3G, Verizon LTE, or none.
Other stuff:
- Project scrapped by Steve Jobs at least 3 times. He signed on after he came back.
- Price $300 to $1000. Likely around $600-$800
- Project started in 2003 or later.
